Information for Students Affected by the Ruidoso-area Wildfires

 

  • NMSU’s Counseling Center offers support for dealing with trauma and stress. Students enrolled at least part-time at the NMSU-Las Cruces campus are eligible for up to 12 individual counseling sessions per academic year.
  • For counseling services, contact the Aggie Health & Wellness Center at 575-646-1512.
  • NMSU students have free, 24/7 access to virtual care services with TimelyCare. No insurance is needed. TimelyCare provides support for health issues like colds, flu, allergies, anxiety, relationships, depression, and school stress, in addition to scheduled medical and counseling visits, self-care content, and basic needs support.

  • If you have been affected by the wildfires, inform your instructors about any missed classes or assignments. For a potential approved absence notification, contact NMSU Student Assistance Services at saservices@nmsu.edu.
  • Community college students within the NMSU system should contact the Academic Dean’s office at their respective campus.
  • If an extended absence is not feasible, Student Assistance Services can help you explore a potential “incomplete” grade. Incompletes are for passable work that couldn't be completed due to unforeseen circumstances and must be approved by the instructor.
  • Discuss the potential for an incomplete grade with NMSU Student Assistance Services at saservices@nmsu.edu. Additional options may be explored as needed.

If you are enrolled at NMSU-Las Cruces or DACC and scheduled to move into on-campus housing for Fall 2024, Housing & Residential Life may accommodate an early move-in.
