American Indian Program

American Indian Program (AIP) offers services designed to help students successfully achieve their collegiate goals. AIP provides a place on campus where students can study, use computers, or just take a break from classes.

Black Programs

The mission of Black Programs is to unite students of African-American, Caribbean descent by increasing the awareness and appreciation of Black history through education, cultural, social and academic programs.

Campus Health Center

The Campus Health Center offers free primary health care for full-time students. They have a full staff including physicians, nurse practitioners, health educators, and other health care professionals. Medical specialty services include mental health services and women’s health care. Pharmacy, laboratory, and X-ray services are also available at an extra cost.

Chicano Programs

Chicano Programs is a support service that promotes and empowers all student success through education, advocacy and development of cultural literacy. Services for students include advocacy for academic, financial, and life issues.

The Clinic

The Clinic is a collaborative project of NMSU between the Counseling & Educational Psychology Department, and Family & Consumer Sciences’ Marriage & Family Therapy Program. We provide a wide range of counseling, therapy, and other mental health-related services for members of the Las Cruces community and surrounding region. Trainees (PhD, MFT, MA/MS, and EdS students) and professional staff (including several New Mexico licensed psychologists) offer the benefits of their training in providing skilled and compassionate assistance to persons in need.

Crisis Services

NMSU Social Work Services are here for students who are in crisis, who need additional supports and resources, or who need help learning how to navigate the university and Las Cruces community systems and advocate for themselves. Full and Part-Time NMSU undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for services. Services are free and confidential.

Financial Aid and Scholarship Services

The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarship Services supports the University’s mission by providing access and equal opportunity for financial assistance to eligible students through federal, state, institutional, and private sources regardless of sex, color, age, or other circumstance. The philosophy of the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarship Services is that no student should be denied a college education due to lack of financial resources. Our goal is to provide understandable information, timely service, and monetary assistance while maintaining stewardship of the public funds.

LibGuides: Gay and Lesbian Studies

The Gay and Lesbian Studies section of NMSU Library’s LibGuides is an interdisciplinary approach to researching issues concerning the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) population. LibGuides provides research assistance, subject guides, and useful resources; all compiled by your friendly librarians!

NMSU Counseling Center

The mission of the NMSU Counseling Center is to assist all students in developing to their fullest potential academically, socially, emotionally, and interpersonally. The Counseling Center sees that a student’s academic success is dependent upon their emotional well-being, their belief in themselves, and their ability to successfully interact with the interpersonal world that surrounds them.

NMSU TRiO Programs

TRiO Student Support Services helps students stay in college through specific services such as computers, tutoring, mentoring etc. The program serves 350 NMSU students who are first generation, low-income criteria, and/or have disabilities.
TRiO Upward Bound, federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education, prepares high school students for successful entry into, retention in, and completion of a four-year college degree.

Office of Institutional Equity

The Office of Institutional Equity is a division of NMSU that protects student/faculty equality. Dedicated to non-discrimination and equal opportunity in education and employment, in compliance with state and federal laws, which prohibit discrimination based on race, color, national origin, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, spousal affiliation, physical or mental disability, serious medical condition, or veteran status.

Student Accessibility Services

Stonewall QSA (Queer Straight Alliance)

Stonewall’s mission is to provide GLBTQ individuals and ally friends with a forum in which to meet and discuss issues of mutual concern and interest. Stonewall also organizes and promotes social and cultural events to heighten the awareness of the NMSU community with regards to issues concern and acceptance. Meetings are held every Wednesday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at La Vista Learning Center in Garcia Hall.

Wellness, Alcohol and Violence Education (WAVE) Program

The Wellness, Alcohol and Violence Education Program educates the campus on the issues of well-being and personal safety. WAVE provides students with strategies and information about alcohol use, prevention of sexual assault, and other forms of interpersonal violence.
