The Office of the Dean of Students houses the Dean (your #1 advocate) and Student Judicial Services. The Dean also has oversight of a number of departments that contribute to the student experience and/or offer assistance as needed.
The Dean of Students serves as the primary resource for students, parents, faculty and the greater campus community for issues related to individual students and the student community as a whole.
The Dean acts as an advocate for students, communicating and collaborating with other departments and individual faculty/staff to resolve issues, implement programs and initiatives, and impact policy with the overriding goal of student success, framed on an understanding of student development.
The Dean has supervisory responsibility for a number of SAEM units, including ASNMSU, Campus Activities, Counseling Center, Student Accessibility Services, and Student Judicial Services, as well as oversight of unit budgets.
Through the Counseling Center, students may pursue assistance in the form of personal counseling, career counseling, and social work services. WAVE's Peer Educators provide fellow students with information and strategies regarding alcohol use and the prevention of sexual assault and other forms of interpersonal violence.
Student Accessibility Services serves students with disabilities who choose to register and self identify in order to receive reasonable accommodations intended to enhance their academic success.
Student Judicial Services is the University’s conduct office, upholding the Student Code of Conduct through investigating and sanctioning non-academic misconduct. Student Judicial Services is also responsible for tracking academic misconduct, university-wide. Through implementation of the Code, an environment conducive to academic and personal success is maintained.
The Dean of Students is here for you…an excellent place to ask questions and seek assistance.
